Hi there,

very new to all of this and have just aquired my first Landy, a 1998 Range Rover 4.6 Aurobiography.

It comes with a removable swan-neck tow ball which has a part # of ANR2690. Now that’s for the 50mm European ball,

What I was wondering was whether there was ever a 2” variant of this part for use in North America ?

Does anyone have any info before I test out the factory unit and fit a more ‘agricultural’ Witter ?

Thanks for your help

Bob

Why would you want a 2" version?

Does he know your going to pull him?...
Can the towing bracket on the camper be changed to a gb style bracket?

Haha, I’m planning to take him by surprise !

no, unfortunately the coupler in the trailer is not easily changeable without a fair bit of time and expense which is why we’ve gone down the road of a pre 1/8/98 vehicle we can legally fit a 2” ball to

Maybe a dedicated camper/caravan forum could help with your enquiry.. I only drag broken down cars with mine. And they don't care where we go ;)

2" is 50.8mm (to be pedantic) so your ball will fit no problem. The spring tension on the catch will take up the (less than 1mm of slack) and a dob of grease will help too.

It's the other way round than can be a bit tight, although they still fit due to allowable tolerances

50mm is 2" but not with towballs. And 50mm has a wee flat bit on top whilst 2" are round on top.
They are not compatible,
Yes you can get a bracket that fits that you can fit a Dixon Bate to cos I have one
No idea where it came from and sorry I am keeping it as I use it lol

Aye,

The problem with my balls is the profiles are different, if it was just the 0.8mm it’d probably be ok.

I’m going to show my ignorance here, what’s a Dixon Bale ?

Thanks again

Yes Dixon Bate is a bit like a Hoover is actually a vacuum cleaner?
A manuacturer of tow balls with a ball and jaws for coupling with an eye type hitch or a NATO type eye
As far as I know is a standard fitment for all tow ball hitches apart from the NATO which is different

Ah, yes, well I can certainly fit something like that but will I not have to completely refit the whole towbar assembly ?

I was hoping to cheekily find a like for like replacement for the detachable swan neck that just happened to be a 2” rather than 50mm ball.

Although, as I’m finding with most things over the pond, getting information is frustrating and tricky -and what I do find is often contradictory !

May be worthwhile doing a search of NA sites, there were plenty of RR's sold there, maybe our American members can help .

Apparently this is what I need, slips right in to the receiver. (ANR2618)

if only I could find one in stock somewhere... or, indeed, in the uk
