I have a 1999 P38 (owned from New) it has the factory tow bar with the swan neck hitch. Does anyone know if I can get a US style receiver hitch that will bolt to the same mount holes as the bracket for the swan neck ball? I have a US trailer to move that has the 2 5/16th ball. I have the slide in part with the ball, so just need the receiver part.!

depends on the mounting bracket.. why not switch the hitch on the trailer to a European one

You can replace what you have with a tow bar that will take the receiver/ball you have for sure.but not to replace the original.
But personally I would change the hitch on the trailer as above^^^^. It would also restricts what you can tow if you changed your end rather than the trailer, which of course nobody else could.

Oh and welcome:)

Thank you for your comments. As I will be picking the trailer up at the UK port (it’s being shipped from the US) I need some method of getting it home, at which point I can make any necessary mods. I can get a P38 tow bar here in the US that is designed for a receiver hitch...just a bit of a problem getting it in my luggage!

Seems like I will need to fabricate an adapter to bolt on where the normal swan neck ball attaches to the tow bar.

And thank you for your welcome. Although my P38 is 20 years old this year its only done 70k (the Isle of Man is small ) so I think it’s about time I got on a P38 forum....I am expecting I will need it as the old girl gets older!
