Is this the right part ?

Mine runs well enough but has frequent niggles that are not due to lack of maintenance, like phantom locking at the moment.
When buying a second hand P38 I reckon you need to budget at least £1K t get it up to scratch, after that it will serve you quite well:D

Have changed things on the P38 for sure. Before it was retired in favour of the L322 it was ultra very reliable. True though that years of neglect can cause the need for a lot of work.

While it can suffer from "gremlins" I have found both of the P38's I have had to be really good.
Consumables (as with any vehicle) have been the main expense and I have not had any major drivetrain or running-gear issues.

The fact at 20 years old they can actually still be fixed says a lot. When you know the know-who.

So where does the op get 100 quid or 10 takeaways from?? Think he needs to do his homework and learn to cook.:D
Where does he get dei from bugs me? ;)

If you payed £1G for it you did the old feller okay. Any vehicle with unfixable brakes/suspension or whatever is scrap money to me.

+1 on that here. Both mine have eaten up to £1k before they were really right as a daily car. A LR engineer told me once that these were at least the last RR you could a spanner to.

so, despite the comments i rather would spend 1k on alloys and wheels and other gadgets as 300 on a service part like brake accumulator brake pads etc. simple.
there is always a cheaper option.
cross reverence on most parts showing the same part for different models sometimes up to 50 percent cheaper.

so only buy for the type of car if you need. or want to make the manufacturer more profit.
sorry to say that but thats how it is. no investigating in sales means higher rates of pay.

and i dont intend stepping back on lifestyle because of expensive parts. i hope this explains .
i dont care how much money people spend in there cars - if they can afford it - fine.
a car has his limits from the buy price to the re sale value.
most can be put in usage but so far - i never scrap a car. and i am proud of that.

i know people buying 4 k cars and drive them in the ground buy another.
if they like to waste there life in working a lot for it - is up to them. i rather enjoy living and not being a slave of work.
im far to old and wise for that.

back to the things important.
just been for pre mot.
no rust, no fails , not even a balljoint need replacing.
plus i been speaking to a guy in know at a garage is souring me this Accumulator now without VAT and cheapest supplier possible.

so in overall for what i paid and so far bought for it to get it right i made a bargain. i intend keeping it that way.

i may dont know much about the range rovers and sounds stupid by asking but as of now it is a daily runner and it runs fine.
yes it has his niggle as mentioned above but with investigating and more investigating to get it sorted it is fun to drive.

so .. ok. anyone has the part number for this accumulator please?

looking for a range rover part is 100 plus bloody pounds.
10 take away's i could have instead. lol.

when i sourced the abs sensor range rover was 27 quit and using the part number was 12 quit.
same with all other parts i sourced so far.
so i rather go for the part number and choose the cheapest supplier.

may i add. the accumulator is running on 80psi pressure.
so in theory any 80 psi accumulator is suitable for it? yes?
dont need to be the one where land rover makes extreme profit ?
I think that is reasonable, have a look at the price for a genuine Landrover one:eek:

Unless you are driving the first car you bought that Makes no sense. Dealerships don’t scrap cars but nothing to be proud of.
I’ve killed two defenders and an hilux. I am proud of that :)
The p38 is older and just keeps going
But did cost lot more new.

What I mean is - if I got rid of cars I always sold it for at least that hat I bought them. Parts was for the use of the car.

So turned out using the wabco part number the price gone up.
Especially in the uk.

But long search successfully.
I found a replacement part wabco original when buying in romania to an romanian collection addres is less then half.price.
using the wabco part number not the range rover one.
Bonus.
Persistence makes is worthwhile..

So I asked a friend to get it for me and when is available to collect - his dad collects and send it with the next weekly parcel to him over.
No surplus on postage.

So 52 pound sounds better as 142.
Plus this is already the price for 1 new tyre in the pocket.

Well maybe.
But I never shop on the first window I see stuff.
I dont see it as my responsibility to make some company a lot profit..

It's the proper wabco part.
Is just cheaper because the standard income in the country the demand and taxes are different.

On wabco cross reference on part number it also fit daf vehicles.
Is the same part.

Here in the uk you pay 20 percent govt **** taxes.
Over there the govt gives a surplus on rubber parts for general public. Lol.
Same.as.tyres. if I could.i would.go over to get tyres there too. Loads cheaper as here and same makes.
