I want to try and trace a fault on my driver's door switch. The drivers window goes up and down but the others won't from the drivers switch but all work individually. Can I disconec the bcu without the car having a melt down? I want to test continuity

Open the bonnet, open the tailgate, open the access hatch to the Sat Nav compartment (Lefthand side of boot), wait for the little red light to go out, then disconnect the negative lead to the battery, wait upwards of 10 minutes - I usually do 20minutes - for the Air Bag system to discharge, then disconnect the positive lead. During the waiting for the red light on the Nav drive to go out...don't open or close any door, bonnet or tailgate, else it wakes it up again and you have to wait for it to sleep again!

Can be around 3/4 minutes for the drive to sleep.

Or drive it into a wall and the battery will disconnect automatically. :D:D
