I am just trying to get the clutch to work , its a series 2 gearbox with the associated release mechanism mated to a series 3 master as per the photos

Having problems getting enough travel at the master to get the release bearing to shift far enough.
Has anybody else done this system? I am thinking I might have to use the series 2 master but has that got any more travel than the later one in the pic.
Bit stumped again.:(

Yes but still only getting enough to just move the slave and not enough to operate the release bearing.
Got adjustment both master and slave but no joy.

Yes had a new bearing, actually its just occured to me that the clutch cover plate is for a series 3 not series 2, there is a difference in width for those so could that be the problem?

Seem to remember modding my son in law's Series by extending the crosshaft to get his clutch to work better.
This may be absolutely nothing to do with this problem.
Just saying! :):):):)

I see what you're saying the cross shaft might have been put back out of kilter. Don't remember having that off though.
Just had a look at a series 2 clutch cover and its a lot deeper than a series 3 so guessing thats the problem too far from the release bearing to start with so not enough reach on the slave, means the gearbox is coming out again.......bugger but at least I can try and sort the oil leak at the back of the sump whilst I'm on it.

Guessing that's the problem then.
New issue though now the cover plate won't sit on the pins in the flywheel so gonna have to drill a couple of new holes in the plate to sort it.

Can't I just drill new holes in the cover plate, they're only about 6mm so should be ok?
I can use the series 3 plate as a template.
All the bolt holes line up.
