200tdi fuel injectors

Hi fellow LR owners,
I have just taken out one of my fuel injectors to replace but there was no copper washer to be seen, when replacing the injectors do I actually need to use a washer?

yes its essential,look down the hole very carefully its probably discoloured and still there

Another novice question, just bought some new Bosch injectors to replace the old, do they need the spray pattern configuring or are they OK to drop in straight from the box?
