Hi, help required please
My auto box packed up last night on my Freelander 2 2007
Managed to limp it home but was slipping bad but when I stopped and rested it, presumably cooled down it would drive a bit further
It's done 153k not sure if the ATF has ever been changed
Question is would an oil change or top up help or is it likely to be way beyond that now?
If so any suggestions for repair or replacement greatly appreciated
Many thanks for any help as new to this forum

Should have had a fluid change at 150k. Try topping the level and if it works give it a fluid change. Keep your service up to date or it will cost you.

As I recall there is a level plug you remove then a fill plug on the top. Add fluid until it comes out of the level plug. Mine got done on its 10 year service so I’ve not actually done it. Next time I’m on my computer I will see if I can find it in the manual

The auto gearbox centre say it sounds fairly terminal though and are quoting 2.6k to repair

Worth putting half a ltr of fluid in to see if it works. Not much to loose and £2600 to gain. My manual says EssoJWS3309.
Make sure you clean round the filler plug before removing.
