Just done the oil change on my F2, normally do it at a mate's garage and use his tools. Today decided to do at home in my barn. Must of used every combination of sockets and wrenches I have to get that pesky oil filter off. Reckon the guy who designed it must of been a magician, and was probably a member of Slithering with a mean streak a mile wide. How on earth do normal muggels such as ourselves attempt to remove said oil filter. Or is there a special wand to do the job. I'm not a small guy, 6'2, 94 kilo's and my hands have a real problem getting to that filter, and as for getting a wrench to easily turn in that minuscule space well ...........How does everyone else cope. Suggestions for the next time in 6 months time please.

Pfft try doing a TD5.

I don't have the smallest hands and you have to pretty much break your wrist to mangle yourself in there to undo it ;)

You do it from below and use one of these below, also you have to move the hose slightly backwards, the ratchet combination spanner is the best tool, use of some decent ramps also help the higher the better, usually takes about 20 minutes.

brilliant pics, and now I know a flexible ratchet is required, nicely done Arctic 2, thanks

I change mine recently on the SD4. I have thin arms and small hands so it was easier. Let the oil drain from the sump for a while before removing the oil filter so there wasn't any mess others have talked about from the filter dripping oil. I put a fine tooth ratchet on it to start off the filter then turned by hand when it was lose enough. Hardest part I found was getting the oil filter out of the plastic top as I didn't want to snap the plastic top if too forceful. I did try to buy a 27mm ratchet spanner at the last minute but shops don't seem to stock them.
