Been helping me neighbour today, whose Disco was ****ing oil all over the road. It's the Transmission oil cooler that's sprung a leak.
I don't have a Paynes for a Disco, so I'd be grateful for help with the following questions.
1. Is it just a question of replacing the cooler, then re-filling, or is there some bleeding / purging required?
2. How much, and what type of oil should be in there (assuming we drain the remainder out and re-fill)? The stuff that's in there now is brown and looks like thin engine oil - I'd have expected it to be red ATF?
3. Can we re-fill the box from the dip-stick tube, or does it have to be done from underneath?
4. Any other pit-falls / tips?
Thanks muchly.

from anuva site....
"yes it should be red - brown is bad ! After replacing the broken bits, drain the rest of the oil then fill it through the dipstick tube slowly with the engine running check the level after each ltr you add.Run the shifter through all its positions slowly a couple of times then re-check the level.I'd be a bit worried by the colour of the existing oil,it might be worth keeping an eye on it."
