Some scumbag threw the concrete coping stone of my wall through my back window at 5.15am this morning!
My neighbor woke me to tell me what just happened and she called the police who were out pretty dam quickly searching the area but not heard anything since.

I’m now trying to find out my best course of action, is this something that an be replaced by the likes of Auto glass for example? Or could I buy another tailgate and swap it over, it’s bonded I’m guessing so might be hassle. Or go though insurance, I have a crime number but will this go against me as a claim?

Which model RR do you have? As that will affect which course of action might be best.

Addit: Had a couple of other thoughts: the £50 excess on insurance is for windscreen only, I think, so could cost you , your normal excess and premiums go up. So depending on model, as asked above, might be cheaper to try to find a tailgate . Either in same colour or a respray. Autoglass are not cheap if not going through insurance, assuming they have the glass.

I had the tailgate glass of the p38 replaced on the insurance just paid the excess, on a lot it is just glass cover so is included and won't effect your clamps bonus even had a side window on a vectra done.

Thats interesting to know because my insurance policy states windscreen cover , for the £50 excess replacement and £10 for repair.. it doesn't include other glass in that section. Not sure what it says about other glass further into the policy.

It’s an L322 model. I’ve been in touch with the insurance and it’s the £100 excess I have to pay. I also called my friend in Auto windscreens and would have been £180 + vat.

I'd take the £180 +vat and ask your pal if mates rates is available. No matter what your insurance says now, your premiums next year and each year after will reflect if you claim for this. For the sake of just over a hundred quid dont give your insurance company any excuse to screw you.
