hi folks, any ideas to help please,i have no petrol to plugs, have fuel pressure to rail, have spark, have check light, which goes out when cranking,no faults on nanocom, also does the rev counter move or not when cranking,?it will try to fire with easy start, thank you for looking.

Don't think the rev counter moves until started. Sounds like injectors aren't firing. Loom OK?

Is there an emergency stop on the petrol? On the diesel the reset switch is behind the driver's kick panel but don't know if the petrol is the same.

Me bad. Let me check mine later. Rv8 do fire in really quick. It's one of those tests that checks out the crank sensor if it doesn't start and shows 200 or not. Sorry for the bs!

no Grrrrrr, the plugs are dry all the time, have fuel in rail and pressure is good, thanks

So there's fuel at the rail, pressure is good, noid lights show pulses to injectors but no fuel is actually making it into the cylinders?

You've tried the security learn on the Nanocom, just in case?

Not hijacking the post but I have the same problem. Mine will start with a whiff of easy start but just cranks without it. Rev counter doesn't work when cranking but does when running. Topping up the fuel soon as its low.

Does the engine have to be spinning at a certain speed before the injectors fire? If so, could a lazy starter or battery be the issue?

Personally, I removed the starter, stripped and rebuilt it today. Cleaned all the wire connections, charged the battery and connected the jump leads to my other range rover whilst it was running.Turned over rapidly but wouldn't start. Lots of new petrol soon and retry.

i have tried the security learn on nanocom grrrr, but most of the time,it says no,it said yes the other day,but still did not start,i do not know if i am using it right,as i am not very technical,it says security mobilised as well, engine check light goes out during cranking,as well,do you think it might need a syncmate,or is that same job as nanocom, thankyou

Syncmate is same as security learn. You should be able to see the EMS code in the engine module and check it matches the BECM module, I think. Long time since I have seen the GEMS module.

rev counter won't do anything till it fires.

Yes, needs to be turning a certain speed before it will fire. That'll be in the maps but no idea how fast that is. Sounds like Tomcat has already ruled that out.

Are you saying after the easystart it just fires and runs ok? Or it tries to start? Are these gems engines? Pretty frustrating by the sound of it. Gems engines are usually really quick starters.
I would start by trying all the sensors used for start up. Crank cam temp fuel temp gems has a set sequence of sensors it relies on to start. The wires can easily be checked by unplugging the ecu and continuity checking the wires end to end.using a paper clip in the plugs! Rave has the wiring diagrams.
