When you use the button to lift the suspension make sure that all the doors are properly closed as when i finished the repair i didn't realise at first the tailgate door wasent closed properly so the suspension wouldn't lift. If replacing airbags and the height sensors are quite old it maybe worth replacing them aswell. There are videos on YouTube for the repair kit for the compressor. I think having someone diagnose the problem saved me alot of time and working blind without really knowing what the issue was.

I'm looking to upgrade my diagnostics to one that also scans the sls aswell the one i have at the moment does everything apart from suspension on the td5 disco.

I changed the air filter, dessicant and piston ring on my compressor and it ran alright for a while and then the compressor packed in altogether.

Have you connected it direct to a battery as mine kept cutting out and it turned out tobe height sensor failure.

Mobile mechanic sounds a good idea but have now ordered new bags, just seen on you tube a kit to service the compressor, anybody done this and are there problems? just one more thing, now that I have learn't a lot about the suspension I cannot remember pushing the self levelling button and anything happening, I read that the vehicle should rise 2 inches at the back, when I push the button, there are thhee chimes and then the light on the dash flashes but no rise, just wondering if this could all be connected and if so any ideas, Thanks in advance

It does rise slowly and will continue to rise while the little light is flashing. Don't expect to press the button and the disco to pop up.

Question, when I fit new bags tomorrow, could air be leaking back through the pipe, as I can't find leaks on the old bags

Yes, your solenoids valves could be playing up as I mentioned in a previous post.
They open to let air to each bag but if they don't close, or open by themselves later, the air will come out again.

Thanks That's brilliant, another silly question, when fitting new height sensors, do you tighten the bottom arm up tight or leave a bit of movement?

Really appreciate all the help. I have replaced the airbag on the offending offside and all seems good, will replace the nearside this weekend, just one problem, I lost the olive from the valve, doesn't look like I can get another valve, so any ideas, the old bags had the guest push in type but the ones I bought came with the screw in valve, that in itself is a mission trying to get a spanner on it

I did my sensors tight but i think they need abit of movement so when i get a chance i think that i will adjust them so they can move and see what happens.

In that case i think i will leave them alone then. Thanks for the info. I just thought that they needed to rotate.

It makes you wonder why they use a bush if they are not supposed to pivot.

I had to break the old sensors up abit when i removed them as the female thread on the chassis side of the sensor was broken the bolt was just spinning and the other side of the disco the sensor arm was stuck on the bolt on the radius arm so i did the engineers solution i hit them with a big hammer.

If all else fails, use a bigger 'ammer!

It does say tighten bolt, but to my way of thinking,they fail due to the metal rod going through the rubber by the metal sleeve, if there was a small bit of movement that wouldn't happen
