What have you done to your Freelander today

I'll need to speak nicely to her indoors, she's already banned any chainsaw purchase, I can't see her taking kindly to a mig welder suddenly appearing. Seriously though, I did see a local college doing a basic welding evening class, wasn't much cash.

That had crossed my mind too. I shall have a look locally too, sure would be handy. I am thinking of making a rear silencer and diff guard using some 4mm chequer plate. Not that I will need to weld for that, just grow some muscle to bend the plate haha

Ordered a replacement radiator on Thursday, it's arrived in Auckland this morning. Added a additional earth connection to my radio aerial's base above the cabin light arrangement, hoping to improve radio reception! Relocated the rear window switch and central locking switch - I've already relocated the window lift switches to the centre arm rest so I just removed those redundant switches and moved the other to up to the vacant positions. Hard wired my DVR to the wiring in the cig' lighter. Can now use cig' lighter socket for my USB charger.

Is your head unit aftermarket? I had problems earlier in the year with radio reception, it would only seem to find one station, when I changed the unit for a better aftermarket unit (pioneer double din) the problem went away.

Hi Ali, I'm going to see if my local auto repair guy can weld it, as it's the box section just beside the rear subframe bolt on the n/s

If you can get a decent subframe I don't think it is that big a job to swap it (maybe someone who actually knows what their talking about might join in). Wouldn't he have to remove the subframe to weld it properly anyway? A phone call to your local scrappy before seeing the welder might save you money. Might be a good time to replace the fuel tank cradle while your at it.

New fuel tank cradle fitted in January, the old one was almost non-existant.

I changed the intake manifold on my V6 this weekend. Major improvement in running.
It must have heard it was going up for sale as it started with a tappety noise when it got home.
It sounded like it was coming from the alternator area so I picked up a cheap mechanic's stethoscope to
find out the culprit. Of course today it isn't doing it.

Took the car for its 6 monthly WOF (MOT) today. Bit of a rush before hand cos the Starlet was going for it one as well and 1/2 hour before we were to drop the cars off realised it didn't have any brake lights! So checked the fuses and sure enough one blown - replaced it with one from the parts Freelander and all sorted.

Me and my son dropped the cars off at the garage I use for MOTs then a 100m walk along Perimeter Road as an Emirates A380 taxis past and into the airport terminal for some lunch while we wait. Only in Christchurch!

All day breakfast and a pint of Emersons with my son before going back for the cars. Starlet pass ... Freelander fail Right hand engine mount!

Today I found a few hours to fit some sound deadening material to the front doors. I also fitted a pair of replacement speakers at the same time.
The sound deadening has made a big difference to panel vibration and resonance.
