Yeah it's getting a damn good thrashing on Thursday.

Sorted the air con with a Halfords STP kit, £45 on trade card and £10 back for the empty bottle

I read many a horror story about it neededing to be pumped out and tested but I attached the gauge, followed the instructions and now have icy cold air con

200 miles and it's been on for every mile, no issues so far, no puppies died because I did it myself either

Last year I had ****fit regas my AC for £50. It's the only thing that I'd let them do. The best part of the deal was. If they couldn't regas it, they don't charge for there time or any materials used. I don't know if they are still offering that deal however.

have used that kit .. worked fine ..
except .. the second time around the gauge was totally inaccurate
and also sprung a leak .. looked for a replacement .. couldn't find one ..
( wasn't going to buy the same one again )

t'day .. changed air filter .. cleaned maf and i.a.t. sensors
1st time i'd cleaned a maf then re-used it ..
thought i'd gone wrong some where as .. turned key .. it caught briefly then died ..
tried again .. it cranked for about 6 seconds then fired up ..
( normally fires up within 1.5 secs .. yeah have stop-watched it
( out of curiosity ..
idled rough with loads of white smoke out the exhaust ..
( neighbour in garden did not appreciate that at all
after a few secs .. white smoke vanished 'n idle went smooth ..

had immersed the air flow channel ( pierburg maf ) in ' gunk ' while i had coffee
swished it about a bit .. then used electrical-contact-cleaning-spray on it ..

Hmmm, my new lhs brake caliper carrier arrived today, but on first sight I thought, this is the rhs carrier, going on the fact that the guide pins had been inserted with the longer one in the bottom hole, not the top one. However, looking at the carrier, it seems to be symmetrical, so would fit either side, as long as the guide pins were fitted in the correct hole. Anyone any thoughts on this ?

Today fitted MuddyMods silencer for TD4. God bless angle grinders and other power tools. Old one off; new one on like a glove, Replaced all rubber hangers, cleaned up anything that I had not previously seen because of the humoungous old silencer. Looks and sounds gorgeous. Then fitted two metal plate staples to the underside of boot shelf so 1: it doesn't lift up at 70 mph like some sort of safety air brake when the top is down and 2; to deter scrotes from seeing what is under the shelf when the top is down. We shall see ..... .

LOL, Not overkill at all using chains and bolts to hold down the shelf.

I think the top photo looks like I have a plank of wood on the towbar in a poor cheap attempt to look like metal steps. I want to make it clear that there will be no wooden extras used by this Hippo ah no I was listening to Theresa May and caught that talking thing she does. Seriously though, anyone know of bigger bolt on steps or rear protection for my FL? I have struggled to find anything that offers any protection for attacking fiats etc

I am proud to announce the successful and correctly positioned fitting of the Landrover Freelander SUV500570 Driving light pod kit onto my TD4. Despite the inevitable LR tomfoolery with an instruction manual for illiterates who must be actually brilliantly superhumanly visually perceptive at understanding small black and white pictures which may or may not relate to the bit you are doing depending whether you are in Europe; Australia or rest of world; although they may not tell you that really clearly anyway; and are we in Europe as in EEC or as in stupid side of road? And we won't be for much longer in the EEC anyway so what then? WHAT THEN???? Anyway, here they are. They are bright enough to upset people. I thank you.

Well just been to the Auction, as I have had no interest locally for her,

Two weeks she has been out there for sale..
I have to have the space and with no MOT the neighbours would start
twitching the day it ran out..
Sold..I won’t tell you how much but it wasn’t as much as you guys were
Expecting..Someone has got a bargain

Sad to hear it's gone for less than you deserved. I am a relative newby to this forum but the help and advice I get makes me think I would miss it too, and my Hippo is the only car that has enthused me to do stuff, maintain and improve and I will be sad when my wife finally destroys it. Which she will soon, I imagine.

Likewise, sorry to hear you had to give it away. Sometimes you have to go the extra mile when selling and give it full MOT and even then it can take weeks to go.

Ok, get this. Today I didn't get any tools out. Didn't jack it up, didn't check the oil nor Hammerite anything. Today I, well, I don't know how to say this. Today I actually DROVE my Hippo. Places, And it felt good. How I dreamed of this day. Living the dream man

Replaced the drivers side drop link. Had to take the angle grinder out to get the lower nut and a nut splitter for the top one. What a difference, super smooth now. Unfortunately I also noticed the ARB is wandering about and had been up against the strut at some point. That'll explain the occasional clink when turning right.

I then painted the welded part of the sill with bonda primer. The rest of the sill looks bad , when I tap along it I reckon only the anti chip paint is holding it together. Maybe I should learn to weld.

I often think I should have learnt how to weld also. Or kept in touch with my mate who can weld, Maybe I should drop him a text to say hi ......
