Question for the electrical people! I'm now wanting the Equipe 4x4 Modular bumper (not cheap I know but it is strong and looks bloody good) though I'm try to work out the lighting situation.
I quite like how my current spots are wired into the highbeam switch with an isolator switch so I want to keep that aspect of the wiring in place but replace the iso switch with a Carling Off - On - On switch in the dash. That's simple enough, however the Equipe bumper has space for x2 fog lights mounted low, x2 spot lights mounted higher and an LED bar.
Ideally I want to have the LED bar & spot lights on the same circuit linked into ON position 1 on the Carling used as an iso and linked into the highbeam stalk. Following? lol
Then have the fog lights into ON position two but not connected in anyway to the LED or spots, is this possible or ridiculous?
I want it done this way as everything already has a dedicated slot and there isnt space for another switch, not one I want to fit anyway! Secondly I want it on the switch so in foggy conditions I can turn on the front fog lights without having to turn on the highbeams, spots or LED bar.
So in my mind it should work like this -
Carling OFF - No auxiliary lights active at all
Carling on position 1 - Nothing turns on until you turn the highbeams on via the LR stalk then the LED bar & spots come on along with highbeams
Carling on position 2 - Front fog lights come on but the LED & spots will come on if you turn the highbeams on

I always thought that fogs had to turn off if high beam was selected.......You do like making life difficult Young Man..

I just want it a specific way! haha No idea on the regs regarding fogs etc.. though you wouldnt want to have high beams on in fog anyway! The idea was to have usable front fogs lights, as on occasion they would be useful. If I can't I'll just fit more spots in there place and go for a much simpler set up!
On the regs though, ive seen 100s of cars driving around lately with the front fogs always on, using them as if they where DLRs, been flash a few times too and the fogs stay on while the high beams where active

They are called day time driving lights, They are for safety, and has been proven to reduce traffic accidents and save lives

But i always thought it was a legal requirement that fogs would switch off if main beam was engaged. I will have to investigate.....

Not ideal I know! lol though its the way I thought it through having the best of both worlds. So I could turn the fogs on without having the high beams on but have the high beams on without the fogs being on!

They have been around here in the US since the late 80's early 90's. as either a feature or a option on vehicles.

Then the way you have written it make sit seem a little confusing.............I think I get it now.
Basically,
0 = off , only utilising vehicle lighting controls.
1 = LED / Spots with High beam on stalk.
2 = Foglights.
Anyway, are you going to be fitting the fogs low enough? off the top of my head I cannot remember the max height they are allowed by law. But there is a limit.

Yes! thats the way, sorry I was a little confused myself working it out!
Fogs would be mounted in the hole to the right of the shackle, is that low enough?
Not been an option or an idea in the UK until recently. The lights are fogs lights for sure as they are mounted at the lowest possible point and well look like bloody fogs

Well, just been and checked the D2, although with the manky fogs in it they would never be any use.
Fogs DO work on High Beam as well. Appears I was mistaken about the law, or the Disco is throwing a fit......

very true!!! The amount of fu ck buckets I see driving around with DRLs on but NO lights at night is amazing! Especially dangerous on black cars!
So am I over complicating things for the sake of some font fogs that will rarely ever be used? Or shall I stop being a nonce and just fit 4 sets of spot lights instead on one normal switch?

Hey do it anyway.......
Who is ever going to check.................LOL
If I was fitting them , I would have the following.
1 = isolation switch.
2 = Power to the LED / Spots switched via the main beam switch. Switch off, no spots / LED. But still have mains beam.
3 = independant fog light switch, with an LED identifier on the dash.
