Rear Prop Removal on a slope

My driveway is sloped, I need to take the rear prop off to change the rear diff oil seal.

Is my understanding correct that the hand break drum works on the rear prop? So if I remove the prop, or lift the back wheels, the beast is going to start rolling?

If so, what are my options? Will locking the diff help? Should I put it in reverse Gear (facing down the hill)?

Any other suggestions? - other than finding a flat driveway!

chcok the **** out of the front wheels, and the rears to be safe then it wont go anywhere. dont need to lift the rear wheels to do the rear seals

putting it in difflock will mean the hand brake and transmission if in gear help to hold the car ,but as others have said chock front wheels too

No, just be aware that when you get the breaker bar on the nut on the diff it will either rotate the wheels or rock the car forwards.

You need to 'lock' the flange somehow to prevent this

The cheap 240v impact wrench from clarke/toolstation/etc will make this much easier. Even with the rear wheels lifted, there's not much room to move a breaker bar.

nice bit of kit neilly makes it much easier to on do flange nut han a daf lorrey one inch gun would not move it had to make up tool similar to yours and a long pole

I had to use my trolley jack under the end on a 2' breaker bar to release the M12 screw that holds my flange on it was so tight, wheels on the ground to do that then jacked up for better access, then it was a straight 15 minute seal change after that.
An impact wrench would be another tool I won't use again so I didn't get one.
