@RyanDay1

Halfords socket sets are always 1/2 price, ;). I do not think I have ever seen the full price, not sure how they get away with it.

Having said that £100 for the 170 pc set is cheaper than their normal "deal" . You have alink?

Cheerw
Yeah im probably way off haha! I got a trade card anyways so is usually cheaper than deals so ignore offers as they cancel anyway, will find it matey, havent been there in a long while, not enough money and Amazon prime is too good ;)

Sorry guys phone was having a right divvy apologies for any weird messages, i hope the link worked it was best i could do from email, i find with halfords stuff its easy to get loads as its all there in front of you, but have a good browse in different places and you might save a lot as some stuff, like the socket sets, are great but others aren't so fantastic money wise, get at least the 120 piece, am sure they're all fine but i wish i'd bought bigger sets to start with then you have a better foundation to build your tools on :)

Yeah the link worked,

same price as always....1/2 price........ Just for info, what sort of deal do you get with the trade card?

I keep hoping they have the same problem as the other year over xmas, when they had their advanced screwdrivers sets for £2.50........

Cheers

hmm link works but im not getting the same prices as you?

@RyanDay1 , did you find a link for the 170 pc at £100? Matey

Cheers

Sorry i was guessing at first, looks like it isn't 100 quid, with that discount code it'll bring it down but the 170 pc sits at 150 am afraid, again wildey if there is any chance you might know someone with a halfords trade card the discounts on the advanced tool sets are huge, nearly always more than the deals, hope that helps at all :)

My friend with the 200 pc got the trade discount, plus an introductory 20% off that, bringing the 200 pc to something like 120 quid, nearly 50p a piece or summit crazy, worth looking into, if you go to the shop try n haggle em, the folks on the tills aren't bothered, may even drop a bit more off because theres a slight mark on the box, the bigger set you buy the more you're getting for your money, if you do get a big set you'll never need those tools again, they're all covered under that same warranty on one receipt and you won't look at other sets in jealousy as everything is in yours ;)

My son bought the 200 piece set when he got his first car, bloody good set well worth the investment and now he doesn't borrow my tools I borrow his:D:D:D

I haven't looked at the details but I've just had an email off them showing 'back Friday's deals and a big socket set was on there.
Can't do links sorry:oops:

Good work. I ended up getting 200pc on my way home last night. Could probably have haggled for a few quid off but half price ain't bad. Thanks for the advice all. Fingers crossed all will help me actually get the job done!

Hi all. Progress is happening. Alternator off with the magic shock spray. 2 of 4 bolts out of PAS pump but the others are crumbling and not shifting despite spray, socket, breaker bar, chisel and hammer!

My alt plan is to drain PAS system too and remove casing with PAS pump intact. That way the engineers can probably get them out for me when re-tapping tensioner stud hole.

Any reason for me not to do this? Keen to crack on so I can have all back together before too long and before battery goes flat!

Dont see a problem with that.

If you are planning on running an old landrover, trickle charger might prove to be a good investment. Take the pressure off.

Sounds like a good plan.

Improvising a way to fix the Landrover, you are learning something new each day.....Gotta love it.....

Cheers

Agggghhhh. So close. Did the PAS.

Did 2 bolts holding to casing but the long bolt and nut are completely stuck and as with many others on my 110, the fixings are crumbling when I try to loosen. Literally the last hurdle before I can get it over to engineer.

Any ideas or tips? Have tried shock spray hammer and various techniques with spanners. Really keen to get this done.
