Freelander 2 (LR2) Boot lock

Alright. My old man has had trouble with the boot lock and so has replaced it (same as my focus estate lock). This hasnt fixed it though. The boot won't unlock. Anyone one got any ideas how to fix this?

You checked the fuse?

Does it release from the remote or press and hold both lock and unlock inside the car and see if it works then

I had something similar on another car and it was the battery in the remote going flat.
