Mid week I took a few drill bits and tried the shanks in the rear cross member holes for the mud flaps. 8mm was nice and snug. Went on ebay and bought some M8 round rivnuts. WRONG! Turned up on Friday and I went out to try one in  Way too big, did't think that through! Got down and had a look and of course the holes are hexagonal too.
I've googled and think the hexagonal rivnuts are part number STC1726, but no one shows an image. Google images shows apartments in Spain, graphs and some valves!
Don't want to get the donkeys ears on again, by buying the wrong ones a second time!

LOL.

You could always drill the cross member out.

Cheers
Yes, I laughed to to be honest. At my stupidity. :) Lesson learned though, even what appears to be the simplest job warrants proper thin king about.
It's galvanised so I'm not drilling the holes out. Wouldn't sleep at night. ;)

you need 6mm rivnuts ,i found std rivnuts fitted well into the hex holes
Cheers, James. I'd had a look at the dimensions of the rivnets last night, which I should have done in the first place, and realised M6 is what I needed.
If you can't confirm the hexagonal number I'll just get the round ones. :) Almost bought them last night, but thought I would try the part number enquiry today.
I'm sure the round ones will grip sufficiently in the hex hole.
Many thanks.
