Changed the rear output bearing and seal on my transfer box a month back and immediately noticed that my speedo has stopped working. I have a td5 dash and speedo which hasn't been in too long but worked fine before. When I did the bearing I stripped the back on the transfer box to take it into my boy cave / man shed and swap. The worm gear slid up and down the shaft quite freely and my worry is that when I've put the housing back on its slid away from where it should sit. Do I need to strip the transfer Box again to get this shocker to work again? Pfft

speedo drive worm is held by output flange you can only fit it wrong way round, output housing can be removed in situ,it is possible to fit cable or transducer incorrectly

When I replaced mine a few months ago the speedo wouldn't work. If you take it off and spin the little square drive with your fingers you should be b;le to make the speedo needle move. If that's OK, then you know the circuitry is working. In my case the square drive wasn't properly seated in its socket Scraping it down a little so it would fit and replacing it solved the problem.

Hope that this fixes it. If the weather holds out this week I'm gonna pull the non working handbrake which in turn will make it easier to get to and see the little square your talking about. I was going to spin the drum and see if it turned the little square.

Been under the truck tonight to take the handbrake assembly off, strip it and regrease. Now I have a handbrake woohoo, whilst I was under there I took the transducer out and span the drive flange, the little square didn't move at all, I refitted the transducer and everything back together and took it for a spin. Ive changed the rear axle, fitted tube wings, straight through pipe n alot more n the truck seems quicker. So much quicker that I forgot to look at the speedo! Woops!

I've got to replace the rear output seal as last time I fitted it the wrong way around and pulled it out to fit it the right way and now it's leaking so if my speedo still isn't working I'll have to pull the output shaft out and see

James I checked the transducer was fitted correctly however my speedo still doesn't work. Do I need to remove the output shaft again?
