I did mine easily, the worst I did was strain my jaw undoing the bolts....
I wouldn't worry, mine are pitted to hell but they still hold grease....

- IIRC, this is whole point of using CV grease - it tends to stay put..... which is why I would do the seals first...AFAIK, seal is FTC3401 - a whole £3.50 each of fleabay.....

Yes mate, think so...
but without his vin number, I was just trying to point out that the seals are not expensive - the balls/chalice' are a whole other number!!

, Just wanted to double check, as I am also planning on looking to do this during the summer and I hada recollection there were differnt sizes, But as my axles are not original, it is going to be fun to find the right size, or is there a cheat?Cheers

Why would you? Is it any wonder why people think landys are supposed to leak.
Get a pair of seal kits inc halfshaft seal and all the gaskets you need to put it back together, and if you're not doing the balls you can get fresh swivel seals when you do. These ones will be all knackered from rubbing on pitted balls.
Note you can get a 2nd hand axle complete for 50 quid on ebay if you don't mind carting and parting it.

I did mine just over a year ago with the help of a landy Manual and the very same YouTube ,, did it over a weekend, was easy enough ..only special tool I needed was buying a set of spring scales to set the preload,
I used britpart kit which came with everything. Had no issues fitting and still good with no leaks despite the scare stories of britpart and quality issues..

Good question JM, After posting that last night I went for a nice search, I think what I wrote yesterday was wrong , I found a post from a while ago. As I do not know the exact age of the axles I am thinking this may be the answer having looked on the parts catalgue.
Though I may be wrong.
If it does NOT have a drain plug from the hub then it will need the swivel kit with chalice DA3178G. Post KA930456

Am i right in my thinking?
I will also go out and search the axle code, although I still have not found anything to confirm axle code against swivel kit ( will have to search harder ) hoping it was not mixed and matched by the PO. Is there a way I can identify which swivel kit is needed ? either by spline numbers or something else.
