Power steering pipe alternatives

The steel pipes to and from the reservoir aren't in great nick and will need replacing at some point in the near future. Before I save up for some are there alternatives out there? Any made of metal or alloy that is less likely to corrode? The standard ones from LRDirect are fairly expensive!

theres no choice unless you have them specially made ,you could paint well but std pipes last years

Cheers, James. Mine are now 19yrs old and have thick flaking rust on them. I could clean them right back, but don't know how thin I'd be making the pipe wall. Looks like I'll be biting the money bullet again.

only the pump to box needs to be steel the return can just be hose

That sounds interesting, James. I have a 1996 300Tdi 90. Would the pump to box pipe be NTC2597 or something later?
Presumably the hose will need to be reinforced? Any particular type?

300 tdi pipe is anr2135, only the pipe from pump to box takes high pressure
