What did you do with your Range Rover today

My daughter was like that with my old Frontera. She affectionately called it 'The Mountain Car' because we'd take it up and down some slopes and in to mud and huge puddles etc

Yeah, I was telling my wife the other day what a great vehicle it is for kids, because seven and five year old boys get so excited about driving in the dirt.

She stared at me for a few seconds and replied: "Well, so do YOU."

And she's right, of course. The one thing about having two young boys is that they constantly remind me how little I have matured from when I was their age. I still just want to go fast, make a lot of noise, and drive trucks in the dirt. Hahahaha!

Today I just made a bunch of promises to my young boys:

DIEGO: "Can we drive up the side of a MOUNTAIN?!"
ME: "Uhhh... sure."

MATEO: "Can this car go in the MUD?!"
ME: "You bet it can!"

Pretty soon I'm going to have to take them out and start delivering on these promises...

I'd get either a Tirfur winch off eBay or proper diff locks (Airlockers or Kamlockers) before going on any serious mud!

Plenum filter replaced.

Not a bad job but some screws were so rusty they fell out! Woodscrews sufficed for replacement!

Today's job to take the rocker cover off to set locking pins in place took all day cos my 18 month old grandson decided he wanted to help and had my tools all over the only saving grace was my daughters face when she picked him up covered in oil priceless ha ha

Nothing at all again. But due to replace x1 rocker and front drop links as part of my on going preventative maintenance. Oh roof liner and cruise control still on the list

Fuel tank dropped, new lift pump fitted - damn it was rusty under there!

Tank back up, one way valve fitted to fuel line (mine's the old one and DOES seem to need it).

Fuel system bled out, new inlet manifold gaskets, everything back together. Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3... WTF? Temperature climbing when gunning at speed? Airlock? Back home, test viscous fan with newspaper. Yep, you guessed it: viscous not locking.

As fast as I fix stuff ...

Oil and filter change, Access is so good on a P38, unlike the TVR!!

Loaded it up with what my back told me was approximately 400 tons of packing boxes to go in to storage while we move.

The EAS didn't skip a beat. Lovely.

Started by changing a track rod end......... ended up changing both of them, 1 drag link end, two brake pipes and removing the self levelling unit, replaced it with a new ball joint and bracket.

..... one thing always leads to another !

Aircon fans mod?

Do you know what? I'm still driving it and the temperature guage sits on 12 o'clock unless going serious beans or really working hard (towing). I love the viscous: it works perfectly and seems pretty bullet-proof. Also, I like the idea of mechanical rather than electrical for reliability. New one should be here Tuesday.

I guess if really stuck I could loctite the viscous so it is constantly driven. Any draw-backs to that?

Doesn't seem to need it though.

That'd be the remote control 1/4 (?) scale Jeep driven by a teddy-bear with an organ playing in the trailer? Saw it at the bottom of the field but missed you. Missus loved it though and ran off to see it (and donate). Some friends have already posted photos of their kids looking at it so obviously a hit with them too. Great day out. Some lovely vehicles there.

Not my one, mine was sitting out side the model tent with trailer on the back, do like the rc one the way the guy controls the teddy bear is brilliant, will try to put some pics up when i get home and recover.
