is this actually a good idea?

we all sell stuff on, this is perm linked to you and afaik you can't remove it easily.

it seems that they do random checks with the police every now and again and you need to track and make lists of what's sold where?

with a landy that can be stripped, you'd need to spray everything..

not convinced myself.

Perhaps just for deterrent value and for those of us who expect to keep the vehicle more or less standard. Might just make the thieves choose a different one to steal.

I dont know, but I'm giving it a go on mine

thank you for this - it's an incredibly good offer - from £25pa to a one off payment of £15 - they accept paypal too

i've never liked recurring payments :clap2:

Just for some sort of clarification... Smartwater, and other makes of DNA style tracers are invaluable in situations where items that have been recovered, as part of an investigation etc. This enables the investigating officers to trace owners, and provide evidence of a theft. If the police have no evidence that an item, such as a headlight, has been stolen, there cant be a realistic chance of a prosecution. If, for example, an item, has a piece of traceable marker on it, there could be the chance to trace the owner, and find out that parts history. Thats assuming the database has been kept updated. Same principle applies for TV's, laptops, etc. Its all about traceability, and evidence that leads to a prosecution.

If you contact your local police station, its possible there may be free or low registration cost kits available to give out.

In all the years that Smartwater has been going, how many stolen vehicles or parts have actually been recovered as a result of Smartwater?
You are better off putting your money towards physical security or a tracker.
