Very odd, got in to start the car, and the engine would not turn over (TD5)

No fault codes.

Had a look under the bonnet, pressed the reset button just in case, it moved!

Car started!

What would have caused that issue?

Thanks

Martin

the inertia switch has nothing to do with cranking, it's for fuel cut -off, it was just a coincidence imo, make sure that the small lucar connnector on the starter solenoid makes good contact

Yep, had that one after replacing the fuel pressure regulator. I disturbed the lucar connector while trying to get the old regulator off and it was so covered in Diesel and gunk that the connection was very poor. Cleaned it up and made sure it was a tight connection, no problems since (not with that anyway)

Well starting issue has made itself annoying now

The starter motor clonks but does not turn, try again and eventually it works.

What are the most likely things to go wrong?

Thanks

And whose idea of a joke is the location?

Propshaft in way, gearbox pipes in way!

If motor I think I will get the local garage to swap it.

Wires on fine, pressure washed it clean and changed the engine oil

Just going to pressure wash the ground now!

Back suspension had collapsed, trapping my jack.

Stopped panicking, got in, started the car, off road mode, pumped back up!

if the starter clonks but doesnt turn it's certainly the solenoid gone, get a repair kit it's cheap and easy to replace...search for "td5 starter solenoid repair"
