What kind of grease to use in one?

I've just ordered a service kit for an Ingersol gun I have. They also have their own "specified grease" but its expensive. For me grease is grease, but is this not the case with windy guns? Graphite grease perhaps?

Have a look at something like Molykote G67 as it is an extreme pressure grease which, although it is quite expensive, it should last a considerable time.

Or you could have a look at this Linky

Thanks for reply mate. I ended up ordering Ingersoll service kit off e bay and it came with the proper grease. Gun still won't take a wheel nut off though???? Now think my compressor Isn't up to running it now. It's a 150 ltr 3hp so thought it would be capable enough. Or the regulator is goosed?? Anyone any ideas?

Is it the 231xp I recommended in earlier thread? If so, have you removed the foam from the exhaust?

No. Stripped it today. Cleaned all the parts, including the foam and small bit of mesh stuff in the handle. Replaced all the O rings and bearings and refitted foam. Does it run better without foam. Just sounds flat. As if it's not getting enough air.

Should have said it's a 2135tmax

Yes remove foam. Don't really know what its doing there except making it quieter. What it does do is block up with ice and detritus and restrict flow. They flow about 20something cfm and need 90psi constant under load to perform.
They don't always have foam in there when supplied. It should be good for years without service if bought brand new, and still under warrantee.

Oh 2135. Hmm. Haven't used this one. Used the 2131 plastic guns. Think they may be the predecessor. Bedded in directionally. IE if we used them mostly for tightening, they became bad at loosening. And they melted on compressor exhausts when we tried to defrost them:rolleyes:

Average Air Consumption cfm: 5
Air Consumption @ Load cfm: 20

This is what it requires according to Ingersoll. I "think" my compressor puts out 14cfm. Is this enough to run the tool?

14cfm is enough to run most if not constant but enough to undo nuts etc whilst resting between nuts to allow compressor to catch up , 90psi isnt quite enough 120 is better, though i find the snap on 1/2 inch air guns are no match for the batter guns the hammer action is far greater but even so the battery gun can take 5mins of constant hammering to release some wheel nuts

The reg on mine was one I had lying around and don't know what it came off. I fitted it to the compressor when I got it as its own was done in. Think things are pointing towards that.

regulators are an added restriction as can too small a diameter hose
