After doing the sump and such I got round to putting the exhaust manifold back on today, everything was going swimmingly until I heard this faint pop and pulling the socket out of the engine bay yielded the stud attached to the nut.

It pretty much took off all the thread in that stud hole and now I'm not entirely sure what to do. I was nowhere near the 45Nm as specified in the Rave manual for them.

I want to avoid taking the head off if I can help it so I figured that if I remove the bumper and radiator I should be able to get a clear and straight enough access to drill out and tap it up to M12?

I've also thought about helicoils too but figured someone might have a better idea?

Losing my patience with the bloody thing now, to the point where I may just go Basil Fawlty on it with part of a tree.
