Decender 2.5na alternator. Help!! (Jamesmartin lol)

Guys, bit of an issue in that my alternator has broken it's casing. Easy switch I though.

Well 3 different alternators later from my local parts place and I still don't have anything working. 1st one the inner spindle was to big to accept my fan and pulley and the 2nd and 3rd had fan clearance issues and the pulleys didn't line up (by quite a bit!)

My alternator looks like this

But I don't know of that is exactly the same as mine as it appears to be for a series 3.

My Landrover is a 1991 ex-MOD 2.5na defender 90.
I measured the distance from the faceplate to the outer edge of the puller which was 40mm

Does anyone know what alternator would be correct? I do t know what amps my one is and have seen lots of different options online.

Is it possible to get a suitable alternator with fan and pulley attached already? How would I know if the pulleys will line up?

Hopefully James Martin will see this and give me a part number!

And will all those line up okay? I can't work out why the ones from the autofactors didn't.

those are all for 2.5 na there are others that fit ,but those should be a straight fit

I had this exact alternator from the parts place

RTC5083E - Alternator A115/45 Amp 90/110 2.25 and 2.5 Petrol 2.5D NA Machine Sensed

And the fan off my old alternator had clearance issues and if I used washed to solve that ended up with pulley clearance issues

Do you know a stockist that sells it with fan and pulley?

I have emailed LRSeries but won't expect to hear anything till monday

That one on LRSeries is 34amp

Going to look for a 45amp one with fan and pulley already on it.

I suppose I can alter the pulley lining up slightly by physically moving the alternator should I need to.

Or will a 35a alternator do? I have no extra lights and am not going to fit any, I don't even have a radio!

see if you can identify type ie 16acr, 17 acr 127 etc

you get sized washers to align pulley, personally id get the 2.5 alt and new pulley if needed

It's identical to that one on LR series.

Mine has no markings or letters/numbers anywhere. Just says Lucas on the case. Found a few at various places with pulley and fan included - will try one of them

they all fit , rtc5083 was popular for series or 2.5s a few years back as it was cheaper maybe superceded now

Okay new one arrived today. 50a Lucas 18 something something remanata tired unit.

My headlights seem brighter now!!
