Used Clutch

Going to get my clutch done soon. 200tdi.
Getting low on funds now so trying to save where I can for parts ect.
Just got a very good used Valeo Clutch given with only 12000 geneine miles on it.
Would it be OK to fit this ??or should I go for brand new one, just thought the money I save would go towards fork, thrust bearing ect ect.

I have a brand new hd fork you can have.

No idea on the used question tho...

Edit: Assuming a 300 fork is the same as the 200.

Why is it a used one ?

Just think about having to do the whole job twice if the used clutch doesn't work right ?

I know about saving money but sometimes it's best to pay a little extra.

Got it given off a Mate who is doing a full rebuild so changed everything in his.

what about the pressure plate? if clutch disc is gone so is the pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bushing

A new heavy duty clutch brand new cost about £50. For the amount of work involved fitting a new clutch I would play safe and go for a new one.

Dont fit the britpart clutch kit otherwise you will be juddering away, ask me how I know!
If youve got the time but not the money go with the 2nd hand clutch kit.
I fitted a new friction plate with a second hand cover from a mate for my s2 tdi conversion, 4 yrs later and approx 5k its still way nicer to use than the 90 one.
Many years ago I used to run a hgv workshop and if we caught the failing clutch in time we only replaced the friction plate, the cover would go again, good driver 500k was possible, bad one a few weeks!

Its a lot of work only to have to do it again if the used one is no good or does not last. Bite the bullet and fit genuine new parts.
