2 stroke oil in diesel

think it depends in what type of diesel engine you have.

the list of diesel engines types fitted to landrovers is longer than my memory ....
but I have a hi miler disco 200....


last week, my son used the disco to pull our smallish trailer to collect a scooter some miles away, so he put some super dooper expensive pump diesel in as he felt rich for a change..
in the tank was my mixture of tesco part bio crap, plus some virgin tesco sunflower oil I buy and mix roughly 50/50...
I always ad a tad of 2t as I use it now only in my chainsaw & strimmer..
drove my old disco the next day and it run as sweet as a nut, as quiet as its ever been.. why ??
the better grade diesel, the 2T, the 50/50 mix ???????

then last week, `l stupid here put £20 worth of unleaded in the tank before I relised...
****e or stronger words I used.
I had just previous put in 10 litres of tescos best sunflour oil prior to my stopping in at the pumps....quick decision on what to do came out as stick another £20 of tescos diesel in aswell, but then back to tescos for another 10 litres of its best £9 for 10 litres sunflower oil, plus a bigger dash of 2T too....

£20 unleaded
£20 diesel
20 lires of fresh sunflour oil
existing brew of all sorts,
plus a few days later addition of, yes, 10 litres of virgin sunflour oil..

now done near on 300 miles of mixed driving,
got a more notiable "rattle" at certain light throttle, but under load, goes very well,
no noticable smoke, but does stink a bit...........lol..

hopefully (fingers crossed) I`m coming the 140 miles to the weekend jamboree
but must remember to top the tank with decent - non tescos ****e diesel to clean the old girl out....
now, who sells the best pump diesel out there.......

My Disco 300TDI runs better with cheap 2 stroke added, almost an instant improvement in black smoke on start up!

I have stopped using 2-stroke oil in mine. Just use Diesel Rhino instead.

I've just started using diesel rhino in mine too and the starting problems have disappeared and I'm getting better fuel economy, i will be buying another bottle and I was using millers and 2 stroke before.

I am new to the Freelander world but have ran a R75 TD4 diesel for years now, I/we have contemplated this for some while and after lengthy discussion and trials by different members the conclusion was it deposits varnish on the injector internals, and quite frankly isn't required.

The above was also found out after a T4 guru had looked at quite a lot of out R75 TD4 injectors and reading on the T4

It doesn't make the car run smoother, quieter, or give any performance enhancement.

Leave it for the scooter boys

experience would say different on the freelander td4, I could tell easily when it did and didn't have 2 stroke added, with it in, it was noticeably quieter, especially from cold.

performance and fuel economy marginal / negligible, from when I tried it, I never filled up without doing it.

Will there be overall damage to the injectors though ? some when tested on the T4 were out of spec after using the 2stroke where as one member whom only ever used the cheapest diesel 24/7 and as 300000+ on his TD4 and it runs sweet.

I am only passing on the knowledge that was found out from trusted T4 guys whom looked after our and still do the R75 diesels

My engine is running sweet now. I stopped using Millers and 2-stroke oil a few months ago when I started using Diesel Rhino.
