Look at RAVE, follow the circuit, find out which colour wire on the correct plug is supposed to be live to switch wipers, insert a glass headed pin into wire, probe with multimeter.

To identify the correct plug you need access to the BECM...? To see the thing, I mean.

Edit: Also, looking at RAVE, the wash and wipe don't appear to be immediately connected (i.e. 2 different interfaces in the BECM) so with neither of them working, would it indicate an issue nearer to the BECM? Afterall, the pump isn't controlled via wiring in the rear of the car but at the front. Right?

You will have to take the seat out. Have a scan of this. http://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/downloads/1556252923.pdf

Remove the plastics on the column, you should, I think, find a connector, with the aid of RAVE you can meter the stalk functions.

Yep, 5 screws to get the binnacle off and it's accessible straight away. That'll be tomorrows fun sorted!

Hmm, wammers, as you're just..AMAZING, can you guide me (as though I'm as stupid as I'm making myself out to be) as to what colour wires, and where, I should be checking for continuity?

I'm going to tackle this tomorrow so want a bit of a head start before I delve in :)

Wiper switch plugs into connector CO278 99 and on C237 prior. Rear wipe is pin 1 on this connector Orange/Black to pin 13 BECM connector C1278 99 on C257 prior. Rear wash is Pin 8 CO278/C237 Light green/Black to pin 1 BECM C1278/C257. If switch is working pin 1 and 8 should ground to pin 6 on CO278/C237 when rear wipe or wash is selected.
