Hi,
I get a beeping sound when opening the dorr for some time now. For it was only the keyfob of my wife but now one as well gives a sound. The handbook says : the alarm buzzer ad the anti-theft alarm indicator ligth will double bleep/flash every second, for ten sec's, after the alarm is disarmed and driver's dorr opened'. My wife said she thinks it was some orange ligth flashing in the display. I guess I should try and change the batteries of the two fobs first if I am not wrong but can't remember about the sound exactly as my one was working fine till today.

Kind Regards
Matthias

Ok will check and change, thanks

Just had the same problem with ours - so changed the battery. We left 1 alone in case it all went tits upwards and changed the other. At first it didn't seem to make any change - in fact it got worse because the imobiliser would kick in and it wouldn't start - but clicking the 'unlock' button on the fob cleared it. It did that a few times - but it looks to have settled down now and the beeping and imobiliser issues have gone away.

if you had to do that the problem wasn't necessarily the fob battery.

changing a battery in the fob doesn't usually require resetting the system, only when the main car battery is changed is it required.

Is that re my issues? Dunno if the reset process is required, but the handbook says to do it - so did immediately after changing the battery. Dunno if it made any difference - the fob opened and closed the doors, like it did before changing the battery - but also got the immobiliser issues then coming up. I didn't do the reset again - just when the immobiliser light came on and it wouldn't start, just click the unlock button once and it then worked OK. I dunno if the battery maybe wasn't making good contact or something after I put it in - but its all sorted itself out now without me doing anything.

Disconnecting the vehicle battery shouldn't affect anything except the tailgate window. This will need calibration. The alarm and immobiliser will simply resume there pre - disconnected state.

After fitting a new battery to the fob, from memory needs to be synced to the alarm. This is achieved by pressing the unlock button 4 times in short succession. It's pretty easy really. The immobiliser has nothing to do with the fob battery. The immobiliser chip is powered by the coil around the ignition switch and thus independent.

What does it pick up - the key or fob? When I've left the car with a garage and left the key - they call to say its imobilised and they need the fob

Up to 2000ish the transponder was in the fob. This ment the fob had to be hung on the same ring as the key. The key is a flat hinged type.
After 2000 the transponder was moved to the key. The fob was simply there to open the door and disable the alarm. Because the transponder was now in the key, the EAK was no longer needed or provided. The later key is tear shaped.

if it is a straight swap and you don't leave it disconnected for a long time the key fob remote won't need to be synched to the ecu.

we weren't talking about the car battery being disconnected.

paulmitchell

when the battery on the car is re-connected it will wind down the rear window automatically.
should this happen all that is required is 5 or 6 presses on the lock button on the fob to re-synch the fob.

hope this helps :)
