Check the boot area where the Sat nav and amp bits are kept

Common to have damp on the units / connectors

Unplug the various components and check the pins for corrosion

hi thanks there is damp in there fitted a new ampp 2 years ago
do you think a heater will dry it out ? the radio used to light up but orange light wont come on,
indicators work outside but not inside cant work that out
what do you think and thanks for reply

Did you not fix the damp issue after forking out for a new amp ?!

Or at least cover the bits up with a plastic bag !

If the wet has got into the connectors it could have shorted out and damaged anything. Hence your indicator issue maybe ...

+1 ^^^^ Look carefully at the connectors for signs of green corrsion and pins that have completely corroded off.

hi yes thought we fixed the leak and did cover the amp with a bag
its rained up here in scotland non stop from october so maybe its leaking again
ill check connectors but thought because the radio dosnt light up it might be a fuse
thanks for advise

hi
think ive found the problem the multiplug that goes into the lowest silver box next to the amp has melted and is causing shorting out its nearly burnt out and noticed smoke coming from it
Had to take out the plastic tray at the boot to access it
is this the radio receiver ?

I think the Box is the BM54 or the DSP Amp...this is integral to the early vehicles Media/Infotainment system.....sounds like it has got damp and fried itself.

BM54's can be expensive - but repairable....I seem to recall a company in Holland who can recon...not sure who can in the UK

DSP amps are sodding expensive if you can find one!

EDIT: www.bm54.com - Apparently these geezers can do the BM54 unit (if that is the one that is fried) and they are only a handful of miles up the road from me...and I never fecking knew it!!
