If anyone suggests I do a search, I shall introduce them to a red hot poker.

My SRS light is on permanently on my early 300v8 ES Disco. It has a brand new rotary coupler. It is the earlier distributed SRS system.

Does anyone have access to the necessary equipment to investigate the fault? If anyone does, can I present them with beers to give me a hand diagnosing the fault?

I've been on here for 2 years. How have I never seen that map before?! Unfortunately I can't see anyone anywhere near me with the right diagnostics :(

Brian, I know the bulbs come out - I've just put them back in as I want to be able to pass the MOT.

rip the bulb out chances are the air bags won't work anyway unless they have been serviced!

I don't know if Nanocom or hawkeye will interrogate the SRS, there seems to be very little information out there. I guess I'll have to look for someone who has testbook....

The driver airbag connections are good as far as can be determined visually - it's a brand new clock spring I fitted today. I will double check the passenger airbag and crash sensors. I was under the impression that unlike the ABS, the srs light will not extinguish upon fault rectification, but only when connected to diagnostics.

Mine has 16year old airbags, when i left the ignition on the battery flattened and it caused the srs light fault so i took the dash apart and put in a bulb wired to the glow plugs, it passes its test just fine......

Not everybodies desired fix i know

I did the same, wired it into the heater plug light on the dash so the srs light comes on like it should with the ignition and then goes off, passes the test no probs.;)

I don't want to bypass it! I'm quite capable of creating a circuit to illuminate the bulb for a few moments. I could also in theory bribe an MOT tester, but I don't want to, I want to get the system working correctly, I'm asking for help in getting it working properly.

PS the V8s don't have glow plug lights for some reason....

That's the norm nowadays with 'life safety' systems, they need an engineer to clear fault and with their laptop reset the system.

Hi
I'm having the same trouble. Put a new battery on freelader1 td4
and srs light is now on permanently. Have hooked it up to a snap on
souls but it says Cannot clear fault.

What do I do now? Please help

Thanks

Sideways, I agree with above post and i think you mentioned this as well, you may have fixed the fault but the srs system does not reset itself - for any type of fault, unlike most if not all abs faults which are stored but do not prevent the light going out once they are fixed, so either a trip to the stealership is required to reset it or to find out a fault still exists, or maybe someone has a device to reset it and will off er to help as you have requested, here in nz the rumour is the stealership will reset the srs for free but i could not be bothered to get this done as the airbags are almost certainly not going to go off anyway on my car so i have been told, as they 7 years over the recommended life of 10 years, also its so easy to stuff up and make the damn light come on again when working on the electrics etc.

I'm at South Doncaster and have Nanocom which I believe will reset the srs light. It certainly finds srs faults and clears them. Am free Saturday afternoon. Pm me if that's any help.
