Rear Seat folding mechanism P38

Ok, so I might be missing something really obvious, but I can't get the larger of the two rear seat sections to lift forward towards the front seats. The back rest goes forward, but the base is staying fixed to the floor ? The other side is fine - is there a button or catch somewhere ?

Should just roll forward
Try banging the seat flat think thats how it unlocks! As it folds!

Seat back needs to sit as flat as possible against the seat swab to roll over.

Thanks for the replies - I thought that was probably the case - I have just had another go at it and it definitely didn't want to work - however, I have been able to get a long screwdriver under the catch in the middle of the seat and release it - I think I have a spring missing or something. I had to smile, there was a set of molegrips underneath the base when I rolled it forward - I guess someone else had a go at something before me and just couldn't work it out !
Any ideas on the mechanism - the latch just moves backward and forward and isn't spring loaded, which I think it should be ?

Thanks, that might help - it's not a massive problem, now I know I can at least move it - would be good to get it fixed though.

There is a spring that is overcome as the seat back is lifted to engage the catch on the base lock bar. When the seat back is dropped it should pull catch from around bar. You won't see it unless you remove the outer hinge trim.

I folded mine down today and they would not fold back upright!! The seat squab needs to be fully flat to the floor before the backrest folds up.

Mine I have to slam to the floor to get it to go back upright.

A quick wipe with a damp sponge and some KY should sort it. Or is that something else? Bit confused tonight.

Maybe a bit of solvent spray to dissolve/loosen the cr@p then some maintainace spray/ lube.
