Thanks for the reply.
I have waded, honest. Problem is with every lift kit & wheel spacer combo comes a new size!
Maybe we need a sticky with a tyre expert explaining offset & tyre widths in relation to the Freelander?

My local charge £15 to fit & balance each tyre so pretty good price.
Cost of decent 50/50 tyres seem to need a mortgage and selling my liver on the black market!

I have 225/75's (with 15mm tread when new), I can guarantee that 235/75's will definitely foul the arches and are just asking for trouble, 235/70 are slightly smaller (~2-3mm) diameter (makes all the difference on the arch clearance on lock) than my 225/75's and would be what I would go for if I were to buy tyres again.
For winter driving, you need arch clearance to prevent snow buildup and locking you wheels

So, you're saying go for 235/70x16s instead of the 225/75x16s based on your experiences? As you know, I'm getting the same tyres as you so that's good to know! I'm fitting the steel modulars instead of alloys and spacers though, but they should stick out the same amount.

Well I noticed instantly how tight my tyres were to the arches even without lock, so I looked into it, and noticed that 235/70's were marginally smaller, only about 3mm (6mm over the diameter) but thats enough to give slightly more arch clearance both with straight wheels and under lock, plus the tyres are wider, and therefore better :D
Oh and I discovered that 235/70's were marginally cheaper than 225/75's, which is better again.

Tempted with modulars myself, but funds don't currently allow, should've gone for them in the first place instead of spacers, but wanted to keep the alloys.

That's what I thought too, but in the end new steelies worked out cheaper than second hand 16s plus the spacers. Do you reckon the 235s would fit width wise against the strut? I was also thinking of 225 70 16s.

With the offset of the wheel they should be ok, even with the wheels being an inch wider
