Wondered if someone could give me some advice

I've got a 2007 range rover sport and the headlights are the hid lights but they are an aftermarket Kit. I wondered how easy it is to change them to original hid headlights. Is it just a case of buying headlights that are from an 08 rr sport that have the built in ballasts or is it not worth the effort of changing them?

Thanks in advance

Not easy to do.
Will have to get original hid lights, control ECU's and will need programming into the cars computer

Didn't your car come with HID as standard ?

If your car had halogens as original then you could have problems with an MOT examiner or even an over zealous plod as the reflectors and lenses would be wrong so it would be worth changing them.
However, as Hippo said, didn't the car come with HIDs?

He must have a sport SE or something.

Think there projector lenses but halogen lamps

Only think is lack of headlight washers.... The rest would probably be okay with HID fitted

thanks for the help

its an SE I have which has the projector lenses which I would have thought came with HID Bulbs but as Hippo has said probably came with Halogen

The car is out in tenerife so the spanish plod aren't as bad over here been put through its MOT over there with the aftermarket kit no problem

My main concern is the kit hasn't been put in properly (was installed before I bought it) and the bulbs themselves are not in securely and theres no the greatest light pattern from them

So basically its no worth changing the actually headlight to one with a built in ballast? by the time you have to program it into the ecu

It wouldn't be too hard to swap over the lights to genuine HID ones

You might find it won't need any ECU programming

Even if it does require programming, the worse that will happen is a fault code will come up until you get it programmed

Might be worth your while sticking a couple of decent halogens in until you can sort it properly. Also with the halogens in you could try selling the HID units to get some shekels to fund the new ones.

Brilliant guys thanks for all the help will start looking about and get the new ones ordered :) :)
