I'm in the market for a couple of new batteries - I've searched but I find is battery woes, not first hand recommendations.

At the moment I've got 2x Numax XV24 batteries and to be honest, I've never been overly impressed. They are rated quite highly but never seem to cut the mustard. Frequently slow to turn (especially now I've got a 2.8) and quick to discharge.

The catch is I've got Anderson plugs hard wired to each battery so I'm really after a battery with the same terminal layout unless you know of a better solution.

What recommendations do you have (polite ones please :D)

I think rule of thumb is strongest that fits in hole , or in your case holes ,as long as they have good warranty period and known make it shouldn't matter
varta used to be good but see whats around for your money

If your using a battery just to start your engine like me, and no doubt a lot of others then a battery similar to this may do you. :)

Just read your post in an old thread from March 13 - saw that photo there also.

Mine is only for starting, all of the extras run off the 2nd battery but I do have a 2.8 TGV fitted. Even with a 1000mca (750cca to 850cca depending on where you look) it struggles in anything other than optimum conditions.

:):):)

I'd quite happily recommend the optima red top. Getting on for a year old now and now problems whatsoever. Although the last 3 months it's been used to start a vw polo

Put it to good use again at the end of the week when it goes in me new series 3 with a 2.8 diesel in it:)

Also got 2 optima yellow tops that are still good at 5 years old :)

Spent a couple of hours searching through what seems like 1000's of batteries.

Are Optima as good as they claim? 50AH 815cca. 17.2kg, 2Y Warranty.

Optima Red Top Car Battery / Optima Batteries / Batteries by Application

Varta. 95AH 830cca, 4Y Warranty.

Varta Blue G8 Heavy Duty Car Battery 95AH all batterys available in stock | eBay

Optima are good, as was mentioned get the largest cca rating that will fit got twin 1100cca's and the last along time. Buy quality and they will pay for themselves with long life a good quality battery should last 5-6 years minimum

+1 on the Numax CXV-X 1000 Amp - Leisure Batteries - Numax Leisure Batteries

got them on the Disco and Series

use the Disco lots for jump starting, never let me down yet!

I have the same and am very impressed with it so far.

If they are going flat very quick it may be that something is drawing power continuously rather than the battery being at fault.

I understand what you are saying but they've been the same since new :( (4/5 years). In a cold spell, I'd get a couple of quick turns then after that they'd be slow turns.

If the motor is left for more than a few days then it's a non starter! I checked current draw ages ago (nothing changed since) and it was a "standard" figure - I can't remember the figure exactly but it was nothing unusual.
