Hi guys,

Theres a few posts on here RE: lift kits but I want some advise as to whether the kits on ebay are good quality.

I live in kenya where decent parts cost the world. So I am planning on shipping a whole load out in one batch from the UK - it actually works out cheaper.

Now the kits on ebay all seem to be for 90s - I take it that springs and shocks all fit a 110 - just want to check! Are they good quality? If not where should I look. I want a balance between quality and price - As shipping is exactly cheap!

Also if anyone knows where i can get a cheap pair of 2nd row doors let me know. Thanks in advance.

Speak to Extreme4x4, they export to Africa all the time, they do custom setups and standard setups, use good quality stuff and are well priced for most bits.

Why a lift ?

No the rear springs an a 110 are a larger diameter than the 90. The fronts are interchangeable.

What are you after doing ?

Well I have been renovating a 300tdi, I have basically replaced everything that was worn or in a bad state - A LOT!

I Realise i need to replace the shocks and the ones here are really expensive in comparison to what I can get them for in the UK. I spend a lot of time off road especially in dry rocky areas and have had some big scrapes, I presume that a lift will reduce that a bit. As so much as been replaced underneath I presume the lift shouldn't be too detrimental. Advice would be good, if you guys think its a bad mood maybe I wont. I have 265/17r16 tyres on at the moment to deal with the terrain.

Looking at them now, I have a good contact who gets things delivered without any chance of having to pay taxes (and the associated bribes and holding times) on what comes in. So thinking about doing a shop for a few things then shipping them out. This kits for springs and shocks start from about £200 from what I can see. But will these be terrible?

Advice on some reliable but affordable brands would be great.

What are peoples thoughts on the lift in my situation? I have been reading lots of threads on here about them - some people really think its a bad idea. As I use the car off-road a lot would it be a terrible idea?

The last thing I want it to be spending more money repairing everything because I did a lift, but I do want to be able to be more capable off road.

At the moment I am going off the idea...

Quote me if im wrong but i want to make you aware that 3" is the most you can go without having to change a load of other stuff?

on a 110 a lift will really benefit you for the off road situations, it will help lift the chassis out the way a bit, if your on rocky terrain I would definitely look into a tank guard and also a transfer box guard/slide as well as the usual rock sliders, steering guard and diff guards, these are all a must to protect against impact damage.

As for the lift, in my mind a 2" lift would be ideal, you will need to make sure you get springs and shocks (the DeCarbons that extreme4x4 sell are good units), lowered turrets to take into account the extra spring height, +2" bump stops, +2" brake lines and possibly wide angle props, I needed them for my 90 but the extra length of a 110 may mean you get away with it (didn't need them on my disco which is 100"). You won't need cranked front arms at 2"but I would highly recommend cranked and reinforced rear arms as the standards will bend with any whack on a rock.

Basically a lift isn't just springs, not if you want it done properly and seeing as where you are I imagine you want it done properly

I was thinking about a 40mm lift? So thats just under 2 inches. I dont want it to look silly, and it also needs to do a fair bit of on road driving to get to the off road. So need a balance.

Thanks Jongould... I've only had the 110 for 3 months, so I am still learning, but It spends a lot of time bombing about in the bush (loads of fun) and I want to protect it/make it better off road while still being alright on the road and towing stuff outta the mud!

So a decent amount to change then from what your saying. Thanks for the advise!

2 inch lift is probably the best one in your situation, higher will require more parts and cause unnecessary wear. as for makes, well most the spring are all right, I've had ****fart (britpart) ones on and they work fine.
Shocks, well if you want fit and forget, get old man emu, if you don't mind replacing every now and then pro comp or terferma are fine.
But of coarse there's a price difference, but if your buying bulk it might be worth buying them separately.
