If they dont drill out the hole when they make it, then it must be because maybe old series don't have a lock? Can I fit a catch without a lock.
I don't leave my fender anywhere and it's garaged at night so not fussed about locking it.

why not use series latch mechanism

Same door fits defender or series. series locks are below the latch Defender lock is built into the latch.
Sounds like a series latch requires a series body latch. I could change this but ID then be hoping it fits in the same mount holes and same position.... Can of worms, so maybe easy to just drill out the hole as best I can.
