Lt 77 oil cooler

Hey guys. Stupid question time.

Anyway i bought an v8 lt77 gearbox for my project and it has the part to attach pipework for the oil cooler. This bit:

Can i get away with removing it and fitting the one of my other gearbox that doesn't have the pipe connections? Or does it need it?

you can fit the non cooler pipe as fitted to r380s too
