Transfer box in neutral but still drives?

I'm driving a 110 W reg (2000), and all works fine except that I find that the transfer box is in neutral all the time (it freely moves left to right, and no matter what I do, it won't do it's 'H' movement for the various low / high etc.), but, happily drives along in it's road gears (but I need more than that).

I know that someone did something with the transfer box 6 months ago (receipt for an Ashcroft Tranmissions unit number LT230 43G 1.410 ratio).

Now, I use the LRs commercially, and use garages to fix them, but is there a big problem with my transfer box? Has someone incorrectly fitted the Ashcroft unit, assuming nothing else has changed, presumably I still have the high / low etc., and they've just mucked the install up and I need a garage to sort it out? Or may be Ashcroft would be interested in the work?

Is this going to be a big job to fix - garage can't look at for a week or two as too busy.

Any suggestions welcome as I'm confused as happily driven other LRs and they have nice high / low selections etc.!

Transfer box is in High gear ratio all the time, which is lever pulled straight back. Across to the left engages difflock. Shove it forwards it will be in neutral, then forwards again for low
