Not mine thank god , the story goes , this was caused by an electrical fault  whats your thoughts on the likely cause ?

maybe someone took the advice on here gall of petrol and some matches

on a serious note not good to see if its ya pride and joy. and hope it wasn't someone who did it on purpose

It's possible it was an electrical problem which started the fire. Direction of wind blowing, where the fire starts and the strength of the fault are all factors. Don't think the fool tank went up as that normally burns the whole lot. Looks like the bonnet took a lot of heat so I assume the engine area is burnt out. Burnt more inside so could be electrical dash fault.

Member of our Belgian Freelander Forum had the same thing couple of months ago.
His wife parked the car at work and after 1,5h it started burning.
Was also electrical problem but damage was too severe to tell the exact cause.

not enough water in the boot to stop it from burning ,but being honest what a shame someone's pride and joy it does seem a funny burn pattern fire brigade will find out

Defo arson. It had petrol thrown over the back of the bonnet and over the tailgate. Looks like someone jumped on the bonnet too as it's to creased at the front edge to be heat damage. When you get an engine fire the front bumper is the first thing to melt as the heat can't get out any other way, but the bumper is fine, also the wing is melted and the door is burnt where a burning liquid would flow.
