Hi guys.
Does anyone know what Temp switch should be used in a series 2a 2.25 petrol radiator to kick in a new electric fan.?
Also can you tell me the optimum running temp of this engine?
A friend has had a few probs with this now so just trying to help him out to get the CORRECT information.

Thanks all. :pop2:

ok, here we go.. just got a little more info about this. This is what he's done.
A thread has been but into bottom of a new rad in order to house a new thermostate, but they don't know what the best temp one is for that particular engine.
they want the ability to switch fan on manually rather than it coming on and off every 5 mins on running temp. But have it cut in automatically at a temp that wont cause damage should they forget.
At least, i think that's the aim.
Mine is bypassed from the thermostat and i switch on and off manually without any auto switch on as back up

I thought I'd explain my Dad's setup as I think I've confused my friend.

My Dad's got a 1969 Series 2a SWB 2.25 petrol. He's just fitted a new radiator as his last one rotted through, and he's had a M22 thread put in the bottom of it so he can have an automatically controlled electric radiator fan.

He's in his late 60's and he's not too observant when it comes to keeping an eye on his dials on the dashboard, so I don't trust him to have just a manual switch. Although I will be fitting a manual over-ride switch.

What I need to know is the optimum two temperatures (on and off obviously) for the 2.25 litre petrol engine. There are plenty available on eBay, but they're only listed for cars that had them factory fitted. I don't want it to come on too early and be coming on at the drop of a hat, but I also don't want it to be coming on too late after the engine has cooked itself.

Any help much appreciated.
