Hi
Apologies new to mechanics, so may be a silly question. Went to do oil change and found that the filler cap is just resting in place rather than needing unscrewing. There are screw threads on the bottom of the cap but the tube on the engine block it sits in is smooth and too big in diameter too grip these. There is also alot of oil all around the top of engine block. I'm assuming previous owner may not have fitted the correct cap but I wanted to check first in case the engine running created some kind of suction and it was correct.
Thanks in advance for your help.

is it a 2.5 na or td as they do just fit like that , if its a loose fit in rocker box, seal on cap will need changing ,it is a bit screw like

Give me a moment or two please, just polishing me crystal ball up.:rolleyes:

Not sure if this means you dont understand the question, perhaps I should've put more detail in - basically need to know if the oil filler cap on a 2.5 n/a
rests in place and is held in place by some sort of suction effect of the engine or whether it should screw into place. Currently it isnt able to screw on but seems reasonably secure however it just lifts straight out.
Hope thats a better way of putting it Thanks

Thanks James, caught me as I was posting. Just to check it is a push fit on the 2.5 n/a but there should be contact with the sides of the tube on rocker box, is that correct Many thanks
