Been given some diesel engine oil today , can i use it in my td4 ? 5 litres of petronas urania FE , fully synthetic 5w 30 , ACEA E7/E4 for Iveco trucks , I hope so as its not very often i get a gift

5 litres isn't enough for a change. What oil is in it? I'm not a big fan of mixing oils, so I would see if you can get another couple.

Not certain about the standards, but the 5-30 is the correct stuff.

The book says:

Use a 0W/30, 5W/30, 5W/40, 5W/50, 10W/30, 10W/40, or 10W/60 oil meeting specification ACEA: A3 and B3, and having a viscosity band recommended for the temperature range of your locality.

The interweb says: http://www.acea.be/images/uploads/pub/070308_ACEA_sequences_2007_LD_and_HD.pdf

It's a reputable brand - the right viscosity/grade and it's for extended drain intervals on euro 4 engines.

I'd use it without hesitation.

If you can't get any more I would just add any other brand of fully synthetic 5w-30 that had A3/B3 on the container.

Thanks for that chaps , I use motaquip MXQ 5w/40 fully synthetic , every 6 months , so for the next change i will do what sing advised and buy a litre of 5w/30 fully synthetic oil , it was the ACEA E7/E4 that made me ask the question :)

It'll be fine - its not a Ferrari!
