Anyone used these tyres before

I've seen them fitted to quite a few 4x4's lately. They did really well on my mates D3. They were my second choice after BFG's :).

For anyone who isn't a flash git who's a sucker for aggressive tread and phat white lettering I;d say for for the grabbers :).

They have been known to wear unevenly, make lots of vibration and help to feck the drivetrain.

Look it up.;)

I have got them on my TD4 and much prefer them to pirelli scorpions.

Brilliant in the snow and have not felt unsafe in the wet.
I would agree with the review about MPG,and they would not be the first choice
if I was doing 20,000 miles a year on motorways.
Then again I would not necessarily want a freelander for that sort of work anyway.
For hacking around and reasonable offroading fully recommend.

Wear the tread half way down and change em.Still cheap.

I suggest something else is causing the uneven wear, not the tyres themselves.

Mine are fine after 10,000 miles and I haven`t had to have them rebalanced.
I would buy another set again rather then Pirelli`s,but its your money.
Don`t knock em till you have tried em.;)

not a tyre snob

Got 3000 miles out of last on the last Golf Gti I had.
10,000 miles out of a set is a big plus for me.

I put it to you that you are not a proper Yorkie despite your location.
All the ones I know like a bargain Tha noos:)

nothing would last more than 3k if i were driving a GTi ;)

tight as a ducks arse me mate, thats why the STR's....they last very well and behave themselves.

anyway i refuse to argue about tyre choice that is for old men and noobs imho :)

Although I don't stop to ascertain the exact brands, I see far too many tyre treads lying at the side of the road to want to risk a set of cheapo tyres made in the Ying-yang-tiddly-i-po factory, in a country where they have dogs and cats on the menu.

If I was only needing an A/T tyre for nearby green lanes I might consider these budget tyres.

For various reasons I choose my Freelander over my BMW 528i for long motorway journeys. And it's bloody good with high-speed road tyres.

It's the petrol engined BMW that's the local hack. :p

I'm not a tyre snob either, but nearly 50 years experience has taught me that you generally get what you pay for.

(Oh dear - does that make me sound like one of the 'old men' that Freelaner was referring to - I hope not)

In the tyre trade the UK is considered a 'dumping grouind' for cheapy tyres as there is little or no market for them in most other Western European countries.

Not really surprising if you consider than for years we could buy tyres that came over as part worns from Germany due to the fact that they were still within their legal limit in the UK.
Do they still sell them?
Also the way the roads are over here tyres wear a hell of a lot quicker so they saw a market and went for it.
I play this game which annoys the crap out of anyone in the car with me. When it's nice and smooth I say German road, then when it gets rumbly and noisy I say English road :D:D

I never have bought expensive tyres nor the cheapest but you need to way up all your options. Its all very good spending money on a better tyre unless you can't afford to.
Buy the best you can afford ;)

That would outlast your freelander Will.

I keep meaning to ask you were did you get the banner that you use in your posts. 60 years of making mechanics etc.

Oh I don't know, Freelanders aren't known for rusting so I can see it going for as long as I can get parts for it :). I'll probably need a new engine one day but they are dirt cheap now. I'd like to be part of that 70% still going statistic ;).

I made that banner, feel free to copy the URL and use it :).

I agree Sinvogel.
I only do about 7000 miles a year in the freelander and don`t go halfway across Europe.
All I am saying is if you want a reasonably priced tyre that does most jobs well I cannot find a fault with the Infinity`s.
The trouble with some off the brands like all things is you pay for the hype.when a less well known brand would do the job in most cases,
I will leave it there as I am just off across the snowfields of Lincolnshire on me reasonably priced tyres to pick my daughter up.
