Hi all

So, as some of you may know, I collected a discovery the other day that i bought.

It didnt come with any keys for the doors, or the ignition, and the PO used to start it with a screwdriver! It is however, completely legit. The PO could be arsed with changing stuff when he lost the keys so bodged it instead.

Now, when I bought it, I fitted a new igntion barrel and switch. Fine. Engine started and ran like a good'un.

As of today though, when I connected a battery, the immobiliser armed itself, and as soon as I opened the unlocked doors, the alarm went off.

How do I disarm the immobiliser?

Tom

You put your door key in the drivers door, then you..
forgot you dont have a door key
:)

My disco is a 1993 3dr 200tdi (Disco 1)

At the moment, I am trying to work out whether it would be more feasible to break it for spares, or rebuild it...

It used to work fine when I started it, but all of a sudden, the immob seems to have armed itself?

Thanks
Tom

Thanks for the help so far, thats my problem though, I dont have a key (or a fob) for the locks. It has just been unlocked the whole time I have had it so far!

Nothing has changed on it, which is why Im confused as to how the immob armed itself!?

Oh dear, oh dear. I believe you are up a certain creek without a certain instrument. Logically though, if you have a wiring diagram, surely you can isolate the immobiliser?

But!!!!!! Could be the fusible link? Under the bonnet in the main loom of cables coming away from the battery will be what looks like a cloth tube around one of the cables - inside this is a fusible link - basically a smaller cable soldered into the main feed cable - it's pretty common for the soldered joints to corrode away to nothing or creating a high resistance joint.
