Sun visor illumination

My 4.0 SE doesn't have illuminated mirrors in the sun visors. Does anyone know if the wiring is in place for them? as I've noticed I can pick up a set cheaply on eBay. Cheers!

Can anyone confirm what AMP\current rated wire I'd need to run off the interior light to the vanity illumination?

multiply bulb wattage by number of bulbs.
divide by 8
theres ya Current in Amps for the wire.

dont forget an extra fuse.

Why divide by 8? You have some new version of Ohms law?

Better to know the correct current and size accordingly IMO and 8 is more than 50% seeing as the working voltage is 14.2v. Dividing watts by 12 gives a more than adequate safety margin.

Bulbs are 1.2 watt. As there are two am I right in thinking the Amps required would be 0.2?

Yep 0.2A is correct, 7/0.2 wire will be fine and personally I would not bother with an additional fuse as the interior lamps are already protected and it's a very small additional load.
You could also look at LED lamps which would reduce the load even further.

I've followed this and tapped into the - and + you highlighted in the photo, however the bulbs still don't light in the visor (I tested it with a 9v battery first). Are the + and - in this picture definitely correct?

I've tried these bulbs in a couple of cars and got ****ed off with poor fitting and loss of effect when the 'bulbs' eventually rotated in the fittings.
If you fancy a really great effect, and good lighting, and you fancy doing your sun visor have a look in the ebay motor section for LED panels. Just measure the space that you have inside the light fitting and search for an appropriate panel. O.K. you have to solder the wires to the bulb clips but the light output is fantastic. Press the remote control at night and the whole car lights up, even through the privacy glass.
I've mounted a couple flat onto the insides of my boot space and it's like daylight without even lifting the parcel shelf.
