I rented a garage with a lift for a few hours and just put a coil kit on my 2001 p38. It took 5 hours and I was forced to get out at the end so I did not have time to do the EAS computer disable trick (ground the two wires, etc). So being pressed for time and not wanting to have the compressor go on the entire drive home I pulled the EAS relay #20. To my surprise the compressor did not go on nor did I get any warning lights or sounds. It wasn't a fluke because I turned the car off and tried it again and drove for a few miles. No compressor, no warning lights, dash EAS button does nothing. So my question is can I just leave the way it is without messing with the EAS computer wires or will it harm something? Thanks.

personally, i like the EAS on the Range Rover as it's a major benefit to the car as a whole and dont see any benefit to removing it, only minus points...

on of our P38's the bag was leaking, following datatek's guide i replaced all 4 with arnott (260 -ish for a set of 4) bags in about an hour and half which included a run to go get a pry bar.

the key as i understand to the EAS is to keep on top of it.. when an airbag starts a slow leak, people ignore it, then the EAS pump starts working overtime etc etc..

i dont see much point in replacing 1 bag alone, but people do to cut expenditure, which starts a usual chain of events off. if one is on the way out/gone the remaining ones are likely to follow, so might as well replace all 4 at the same time and skip redoing the work your going to have do anyways..

but if coil sprung floats your boat, and you're happy with it, then power to you.

But to answer your question, if no warnings are flagging up, then you're probably lucky, eventually it will come up with an error.

I love how it took 8 posts to answer the question. With everyone assuming I had a leak or some **** and just gave up.

I love how it only took 8 posts.....

What do you think this place is?

People are generally happy to try and help but if you start complaining about not getting the info you want instantly perhaps you should fook orf and pay someone for the answers

When did I complain about not getting an answer? Oh wait I didn't.

Now now children, don't make me split you up. Play nice or don't play at all. Santa won't come if you're naughty.

Thank you to the one guy who said I'm probably just lucky and thank you to everyone else for telling me that coils are stupid. :)

Tis all my fault....

I fergot t' doff me cap as I came in

back below stairs with the rest of the servant oiks!

to answer the OP, if you've pulled the relay and the EAS system is inert then you should be OK. as a suggestion; for full EAS simulation you can put a sheep on the back seat and occaisionally prod it with a stick to get the 'MAAAH!' EAS audio effect

thank you to everyone else for telling me that coils are stupid.

you're welcome.

standard put downs are free of charge, to be really insulted, you'll have to book an appointment. :p :p
